The George Massey Tunnel is the awkward part of cycling from Vancouver toward the islands. The 900 Bike Bus carries bikes inside the bus and connects directly with the ferry terminal. Here is a calm first-trip plan.
What the 900 Bike Bus is
This seasonal service follows the same Bridgeport Station–Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal corridor as Route 620. It has eight interior racks and two standard front racks, for up to 10 bicycles.
In 2026 it runs from June 12 through Sept. 7 on Fridays, weekends and holidays. The destination sign shows 900 Bike Bus and either Bridgeport or Tsawwassen.
Check the stop and schedule first
The Bike Bus uses separate loading and unloading areas at Bridgeport Station and Ladner Exchange. Check the current 900 schedule and stop before leaving rather than planning only around the ferry departure.
TransLink recommends arriving at least 20 minutes early during busy periods. Include the time needed to load your bike and keep one earlier departure as a backup.

Think of the fare as a normal transit trip
TransLink does not list a separate bicycle charge for the Bike Bus. Normal transit fares apply. Passengers without bikes are encouraged to use Route 620 so bike capacity remains available.
Check Compass balance and BC Ferries bicycle fees or reservation rules separately. The bus and ferry are different services, so one does not guarantee a missed connection on the other.
Pack so the bike is easy to handle
Large loose bags on the handlebars make loading harder. Keep panniers or a backpack easy to remove and secure lights, bottles and anything that could fall.
A quick tyre, brake and lock check before boarding makes the terminal arrival smoother. For the return, look at the ferry and Route 900 connection before leaving the island.
When to use the Bike Bus
With a bicycle, Route 900 is the natural first choice. Without one, or when its schedule does not fit, Route 620 is simpler.
The seasonal service is scheduled to end Sept. 7. After that, plan around the limited front racks on conventional buses and check the latest Bikes on Transit guidance.
